At the July 21st Sturbridge Board of Selectmen meeting, a request was made by Escape Estates for a sewer connection to 170 Cedar Street.  Hal White stated he would like to reconsider the sewer moratorium in light of the time-line for the new wastewater treatment facility and therefore the town no longer needs the reserve capacity that was sets aside.  Mr. White didn’t think it would be fair to simply approve this connection for Escape Estates without considering all of the requests that have been made over the last 3 years.  Steve Halterman further explained the reasoning behind the reserve capacity and that the situation has changed.  There was mention of double counting which created a larger reserve than originally required although the explanation wasn’t entirely clear.  Mr. Halterman went on to propose discussing a process for allocating reserves in an appropriate way during a working session in early August.
